The woman he knows as Alyth Anwyl is also Gwenhwyvar, the human form of a free Ceasg. She has been taken somewhere that ordinary magic cannot reach, and the people holding her have threatened to kill her.
David’s search drives him to Fasakerly, then into a bog in a swamp in a marsh, and finally to the hovel of the Hag of Afon Corle. The Hag does not dispense facts. She hoards them. Her knowledge has a price, and the road she points toward can only be travelled once.
