About the author

I'm old enough to have read Heinlein, Laumer, and Norton in their prime, but not Burroughs, Wylie, or Wells.

I live in a shack in the middle of a swamp (rainy season) / desert (dry season) at the end of a dirt road. Generally, regular folks can't find my house, but the government knows exactly where I live.

I have two degrees from accredited four year universities, a BS in Computer Science and a BA in Spanish and French, but sadly I neither program nor speak either language.

Most of the time I'm a farmer, sometimes I'm a construction worker, generally I'm a writer.

In the Spring and Fall, I tend to spend a lot of time in the activity depicted in my photo.

I write Fantasy and Science Fiction novels and short stories. I generally have a target audience in mind when I write and often that audience is not broad. I like action and adventure in my reading and favor it in my writing. If it's got elves, vampires, or unrequited love, I'm not reading it and I sure as the devil did not write it.

I have published seventeen books across four series and two standalones. The Key to Magic is a seven-book epic fantasy. Inconvenient Magic is a four-book comic fantasy. The Holes Universe is a science fiction built on portal and time-travel through "holes through the universe." Chronicle of the Rider is fantasy with a harder edge. The colossi, my current series begins with The Wall in May 2026.
