On the nature of the Colossi series.

August 21, 2026

The three volumes of The Colossi (The Wall, The Factory, and The Tower) constitute one episode of a three part epic story. I actually consider the three volumes to be one long novel. Because of it’s length, I broke it into three separate volumes. This episode is complete in an of itself and is written to end exactly as The Tower ends.

However, my long range concept for the story is the addition of two more long novels, each also broken into three volumes. The appearance of those two novels is contingent on a great many things. At this stage, I have not put much planning or contemplation into those and have nothing on paper for them.

I’d put the odds of those actually being written at under 10 percent.

I have several other novels in process that I would likely work on before those two. I have a comic fantasy novel started that I would like to do after Rider’s Fate. I also would like to write more novels in the Inconvenient Magic series.

I’ve finished the draft of the first book of a new series called The First Journey of Amos Cutter. All the books in that series will be episodic, meaning the story completes in each book and each new book is a new story, so there is no pressure to hurry the next book as there was with The Colossi.

The Tower is still progressing, but not fast. Summer and good weather are keeping me from my pc. I may have to push it off to October. If that happens, I’ll polish The First Journey of Amos Cutter and put it out in September.

One element that would help push me in a writing direction is feedback from readers. What would you like to see next?
